Great start for U/13 Camogie squad

With the early season coaching and training behind us it was fantastic to see our U/13 squad hit the ground running with 2 great wins in their opening 2 games with victories over Faughs celtic and Cuala.

The trip to Tymon  park to play Faughs was a daunting task but the girls aquited themselves very well and from very early in the game St. Maurs took control with Meave Bogan and Megan Benson driving the team on. Caitlin Ryan and Evanna Niall got early goals and points from Meave Bogan put St. Maurs up by 8 points after 10minutes. Izzy Fearon then added a goal and this was folllowed up with another 2 goals from Aoife Bissett and Caitlin Ryan. St. Maurs faced into a gale wind for second half and needed a good start and thanks to the hard work of Hazel Austin got it when she scored a super goal after good work from Hazel McManus and Evanna Niall. The defense with Sadgbh Mackey, Emily Bell and Ava Smith gave nothing away and Maurs had a happy trip back down the M.50

St. Maurs welcomed Cuala to Rush for the second game in the league and turned in a sparkling display from start to Finish to run out comfortable winners. Early scores from Hazel Austin, Aoife Bissett, and Meave Bogan set Maurs on their way. This was a great all round team display with some great skill show by Maurs. Anna Hoare gave another masterul display in defense while at Mid field Meave Bogan and Megan Benson ruled supreme. Up front Hazel McManus and Grace Codd done a great job and put massive pressure on Cuala defenders. 2 goals from Hazel McManus was followed up wi4 points from Aoife Bissett, Meave Bogan 2 and Megan Benson. Emily Bell then scored a great goal to seal another great win for Maurs.

Great credit for the good start must go to team manager Sharon Casey who has put in a huge amount of work. Coaching from our senior player Leona Harford has been invaluable and Lawdie Austin has brought the girls to a new level.
