St Marks 2-1 St Maurs 11-6
Last evening the St Maurs Camogie team travelled to Tallaght to take on St Marks in a top of the table clash. The game was slow to settle and it took about 10 minutes for the Rush girls to register the 1st score. The game was still competitive but 4 late scores in the 1st half, where St Maurs scored 2-2 without reply, the pick of which were huge points from Leona and Shauna. At half time Maurs led 3-4 to 1-1. Marks rarely threatened the Maurs goal, thanks in no amount to the tremendous work of Fran Towers and Sallyann O Brien in the middle of the field. The girls were nearly impossible to pass, winning opposition puck outs and propelling each attack.
The 2nd half started with 2 quick goals for Maurs and from here on the wheels seemed to come off the Marks effort. A sending off for dangerous play freed up another Maurs player and from here on the girls really began to express themselves. Clodagh Conway finished the game strongly setting up and scoring a few herself.
It is obvious to see that the great effort being put in by these girls in training is paying off, and under the stewerdship of Peter Conway will prove very difficult to beat. The standard of passing and teamplay is improving with each passing game. there are 4 games remaining in the league to be played after exams and in september after the championship, so hopefully the girls will continue on their winning ways.
